Monthly Music Exchange #1

I was looking through some of my old posts the other day and it really reminded me one of the main reasons I like blogging, it was so good to look back and see what I was up to and what was interesting me and such like. I came across a few music video posts and I thought I'd make it a monthly occurrence so I can look back and see what I just couldn't stop listening to.

Right now I'm in love with this song. I have the whole album (Soviet Kitsch) on repeat at the minute but every time this song starts it makes me laugh, it's quite different for Regina Spektor and any song with made up words like 'pizzaterian' wins my vote.

I'd love it if you left comments with any songs/bands you just can't stop listening to at the moment, it's always good to be introduced to something new or reminded of something you haven't listened to in a while.

Visitors

Untitled Untitled Untitled

Some recent visitors to our home.
I'm not a fan of bugs and that's putting it lightly but I love taking photos of them. Weird.

WIP ~ Yarns and Ear Studs

Untitled Untitled Untitled

A few work in progress shots. Legwarmers, ear studs and a blanket. My to do list is quite long at the moment so I'm trying to get lots of things done at the same time. I knit till I can't knit anymore (which let's face it, isn't very long) then draw for a bit then do some crochet then move back onto the knitting. It's going well at the minute, I'm feeling quite productive. I'll just have to be careful that I don't start too many things and end up not getting round to actually finishing anything.

£4.25 ~ Joy of Knowledge

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

Will came to meet me at the shop on Saturday and we went and hit up the charity shops through the city.

The fact that we ended up with these awesome things is helping with the pain of the charity shops feeling the need to up the prices on things that really obviously fit into the 'vintage' trend. There was a coffee pot and 2 cups with saucers that had the most beautiful pattern and altogether came to £34! A cup and saucer for £6. In a charity shop. That's just plain mean. Then I feel bad "but it's for charity" but after discovering that charity shops only have to give 10% of their takings to the charity I've decided that they're actually just greedy. Charity shops clearly exist so that people with less money can get something new (to them) (and obviously to make money for charity too) it's not so that people with money can donate to charity. *insert crazy person annoyed noise* Rant over.

That sticker book actually has most of the stickers still in it, we were amazed.

I'm sure there are lots of charity shops that give a lot more than 10% to charity and obviously some of their stuff still gets priced nice and cheap hence £4.25 for all this stuff. I still think they're getting a bit greedy though.
I'm going to stop doing disclaimers, adding on the sensible half of a rant just takes extra time before anyone has even said that I'm being stupid and wrong. I just see so many people get told they've said something out of line when they clearly haven't that I'm paranoid about people misunderstanding me. If people want to assume I'm just mean and crazy then I'm sure I'll deal with it.
Ha, this kind of turned into a rant of its own. I obviously need to stop worrying about what the crazies think, hello sensible people, I know you're out there :)

New Sketchbook

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

I'm beyond excited that I have a new sketchbook. Art supplies/stationary makes me happy.
Not to be unpatriotic but this book needed covering and I had the perfect thing, a V&A calender of kimono prints.

I can't wait to compare that last shot with one taken once the book is full.

Saturday

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

I took these photos a while ago during a day in The Craft Room. I'm not normally in the shop on a Saturday but seeing as I am today I thought I'd schedule these to pop up while I'm there.

Gif Time!

Yeah, I'm a fool.

I have a few points to make. This wasn't planned, I was photographing bunting for my Folksy shop and decided to try and get a 52 weeks photo at the same time. Once the photos were on my computer I thought they'd work together in gif form.
Also, I wouldn't wear just leggings on my bottom half outside the house, this was a 'don't leave the house stay in and work all day' day.

Also again, while typing this, gif me is moving around at the top of the post which is making me laugh and feel disturbed at the same time. I apologise for bringing this into your life.

p.s For any sensitive types: I mean no offence to people that do wear just leggings outside their house. I'm perfectly happy for you to do what you like and for me to do what I like, it's what makes us all interesting and awesome.

p.p.s Although if you are going to do that I think you should know that after a while leggings get thin and those leggings should not be worn without something over them. I don't like to see your pants.

p.p.p.s Unless your pants are awesome and you want to show them off. But then you'd probably be better off losing the leggings for optimum pant showing off ness.

I'm going to stop now, I woke up really early without the aid of an alarm which is weird and I think it's affected me a bit.

The Pinhole Camera

Untitled Untitled Untitled Birthday! Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

For my birthday William made me a pinhole camera that you could run 35mm film through. Amazing, I'm sure you'll agree.
With the camera, he gave me a "photo album" (old book) with his first attempt in it and for me to fill with my own photos. His first attempt was made of a Ribena carton! It mostly just produced awesome looking light leaks. He used this knowledge to make my camera from a matchbox, lots of black tape, a peg and a key to wind the film on. We actually got photos! Very blurry photos but photos none the less. If he makes the same progress for the next camera they'll be pretty amazing photos. Not that these photos aren't amazing, literally anything from film onto photo paper makes me happy.

A few more.

What On Earth Is She So Pleased About?

That floating bit of face on the 3rd pic makes me laugh every time.

I'm so close to filling this sketchbook, I'm definitely ready for a new one.

Fancy Chimneys and Free Trees

I'm in love with that sign. Who has trees to give away?
Good ol' Norfolk.

Dinosaurs and a Sofa

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

I haven't been drawing even close to as much as I'd like recently which is something I'm sorting out.
Those first 2 are really old.
Those dinosaurs are available as cards here.
Those last 2 were drawn the other day while watching Whip It.

There are a few more old sketchbook bits on their way and then hopefully I'll be able to just keep up with showing things as I draw them more often.

Comics I've Read Vol.9

A.L.I.E.E.E.N. by Lewis Trondheim - Completely cute and completely disgusting.

Hellraisers A Graphic Biography written by Robert Sellers and drawn by JAKe - Great illustrations and good story although I felt like I should have already known more about the people before reading it.

We Hate Tank Girl written by Alan Martin and drawn by Rufus Dayglo - I always love Tank Girl.

I Kill Giants written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Jm Ken Niimura - I wasn't expecting to like this but I actually got quite into it.

Speaking of reading, I don't just read comics (not that there'd be anything wrong with that) and I can't remember if I mentioned this before but if you have Goodreads go friend me and if not then get one, let's recommend books to each other :) Here's my profile.

Craft Swap

Untitled Untitled Untitled

This is so overdue it's unreal. But better late than never!
I got an email from the lovely Kim over at What Peggy Said asking if I'd be interested in doing a craft swap. I obviously said yes and therefore ended up with this awesome bag and also a rather lovely postcard to add to the space in front of my desk where pretty things go as you can see to the right of the last photo.

Thank you Kim!!
If you'd like to see what I sent Kim, she posted about it here.
