last chance crochet and a new design

Untitled

I feel like I did no work last week but making this weeks vlog reminded me of some work that I did do which is good. I love reviewing myself lol, these vlogs help and also my monthly zines really help me realise I'm not entirely useless. I definitely didn't do enough work though, my head's been a bit all over the place and I have started to feel a bit down the past half a week but I think I just need to find some focus so I can be as productive as I want to be.

When I stopped helping at the shop I also brought my stock home, I figured it would be more use to me as etsy stock that would tide me over while I worked on new things and I got these bits photographed and listed this week. I probably won't make more of them so if you want one you should grab them now. I made and re-stocked the "don't tell me to smile" patches and also made the crochet pattern for these cats available.

Will's sister is going to Japan for a year ( (╥﹏╥) so jealous!!!!) and we had her instax to fix so we decorated some photos of us for her to take. Is there anything better than sticking stickers on things and doodling with colourful pens? I think not.

I also got this design up on my print to order shops. You can see the original sketch in the video, I just cleaned it up and added the orange background.

rats and badges

Untitled

They're so cute I'm dead.

At the start of the week I tried out my new badge machine, my birthday gift from my parents, and I'm so in love with it. Whenever I make something for the first time I'm always a little surprised by just how awesome making things is even though it really shouldn't surprise me anymore. I have so many ideas for what I want to do with badges, I'm going to have so much fun ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆

I got my July zine made and listed. Turns out I didn't do a lot of colouring the past month but I did do some drawings I really like.

Leaving myself an important reminder in my diary.

Making more badges! This time with my own drawings. I'm thinking I'll do a mix of badges with some printed pieces of my work and some hand drawn (like these) and probably some sort of fan collage type things too. We'll see, lots of ideas buzzing around and now I've got to just fucking do shit (≧◡≦)

fancy cakes and new housemates

This week feels like more than a week. It started with our trip to Thrigby which feels like such a long while ago! Then on the Sunday mum and dad went home and Will and I ended my 4 day birthday with some cake decorating. We didn't really need more cake but we'd bought the bits as an activity to do on my actual birthday and didn't end up doing it. That icing slowly melted into an unrecognisable mess but it was really fun to do and for a little while they looked super cute.

I'm cutting back on crochet these days and don't have the custom banner listing available in my shop but when I get a message from someone with a cute profile picture asking if I can make another queer banner I can't say no ^_^

Then there was basically a weird mid section of the week where I sorted and tidied and panicked and then.....

....we went and picked up our new friends! Will's sister drove us out to a lovely rat breeder we found online and came home with 3 fancy rats

Oh my gosh, we're so in love. We got three boys, two about 8 weeks and one 5 and a half weeks. They've been home 3 days and the two older ones are just about to start climbing out of the cage onto us without too much persuasion and the younger one is more nervous obviously but as a unit they're a wonderfully happy pile and are getting along great. I've not had rats before and have only had these guys a really short amount of time but rats are the best pets! They're so friendly and beautiful and I love them. They're ruining my productivity because all I do is sit there watching to see if they're up to anything, I'm staying up late to hang out with them and getting up early to catch them before they go back to sleep and it's making me delusional. I, half asleep, woke Will up last night asking him if he a rat in his hair because I thought I could see one. It was weird, I'm obsessed! But yeah, rats, they're great. I think you'll be seeing a lot of these guys round here from now on ^_^

'gators and porcupines and otters and more!

Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park

Mum and Dad came up for my birthday weekend and on the Saturday we went to Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park. None of us had ever been before and it turned out to be really good. It's not a huge zoo but they have some really interesting animals. My favourites would probably have to be the alligators and the porcupines, mostly because I'd never seen either of them in real life before but also because they were amazing. Everything was really good though. It's animals. Animals are good. We walked round almost all of it, stopped for lunch then went back to our favourites. It's a really good size for a day out, you get to spend a good amount of time with everything. A lot of the enclosures have really good high walkways and stuff so you get really good views of the animals. The tigers sit on a ledge right next to you which is incredible.

The video is pretty much unedited clips from the day and has some pretty good otter play and a 'gator blink and I also have a lot of photos for you to scroll through if you'd like :)

Animals being kept in zoo's can be a bit of a worry but this one seemed pretty good and knowing that the ticket prices go into various conservation projects is a good feeling. We also heard how the male snow leopard was found in the wild with his injured mum and they both would have died if they hadn't been brought into captivity which I know not everyone would agree with doing but I like that he still exists.
