Day 262 - A box full of cute ready for Roller Derby.

Day 263 - These guys ^_^

264/365 // 2015

Day 264 - We got bikes! I'm so wobbly! I love it though! Will came into a bit of money (thank you Will's mumma) and he got us bikes from Bicycle Links who are a "Norwich-based social enterprise. Social enterprise means that we trade as a commercial business, but our overall purpose has social aims: to give unemployed and disadvantaged people skills and workshop experience, to refurbish unwanted bikes and stop them going into the waste stream, to encourage cycling as a sustainable means of transport". It feels good to have bikes to get about and to have helped a great local business at the same time. They were super helpful and we are super happy with our refurbished bikes of superness. Super.

Day 265 - A new light for me to take photos of when it's too dark to take photos of anything else.

266/365 // 2015

Day 266 - Pretty pretty.

267/365 // 2015

Day 267 - My strawberry shirt by Em and Sprout arrived and I was excited.

268/365 // 2015

Day 268 - Trying to get organised. I got about halfway to organised.

Tabling at Roller Derby September 2015

Untitled

Last weekend we had a table at the Norfolk Brawds bout at the UEA. I had high hopes after my enjoyment last time and I was not disappointed.

UntitledUntitled

It was a great day. Both their A team and B team played against Nottingham Roller Girls and as far as I could tell they were both really well played. B team (Jolly Dodgers) just lost out but A team won their game. Sold some stuff, watched roller derby, what more could I want?

Untitled

As well as my customary blurry photos this post also comes with a poor quality video! I've wanted to keep little video snippets of things as well as photos for a while now but put it off because I don't have anything that is any good at recording video but I realised I'm ok with poor quality if that's all I've got so here are some little bits from the weekend. And however much the quality bothers you, you get to see Bernard move at the end so it's worth it.

Crochet ~ Autumnal Wall Hanging

Autumn Wall Hanging

Excuse my studio mess, although, I think it ended up looking like I did it on purpose as an attempt at styling rather than just squishing the magazine into a space that had some light (and not much of it). Anyway... the new issue of Simply Crochet (number 36) is all autumnal and lovely and I designed a leafy wall hanging for it. It's basically three different leaves and then you can make however many you need to fill the space you want. You don't even have to string them together as a hanging you could put them on anything. A bunch joined stalk to tip might make a nice delicate scarf actually. You could use any colours too.

Autumn Wall Hanging

Let me know if you make anything using my patterns, because I'm nosey. You can let me know all the usual ways, @vongarratt on twitter and instagram or use #beckygarratt or comment here or on facebook or email me, whatever, just feed my noseyness and I'll probably share it too ^_^

254 - 261 // 365 2015

254/365 // 2015

Day 254 - This was the very last thing I finished off and packed away before Clutter City.

255/365 // 2015

Day 255 - After my Clutter City and his painting workshop Will brought home a Viennetta. He was pleased with it and rightly so.

256/365 // 2015

Day 256 - Making oat biscuits is calming.

257/365 // 2015

Day 257 - My floor is covered with work.

258/365 // 2015

Day 258 - Desk chair being colourful.

259/365 // 2015

Day 259 - I painted myself an awesome shirt.

260/365 // 2015

Day 260 - My reading pile is getting a little out of hand. (you should add me on goodreads so I can find out more books I want to read!)

261/365 // 2015

Day 261 - I treated myself to two new nail varnishes and my inner goth couldn't handle it so added black.

Zine ~ An Ode To Photocopying (Mostly) *Shop Update*

Untitled

I have a brand new zine! Yay. It's inspired by my love for photocopiers but also the fact that photocopiers are crazed beasts that do whatever they want and seem to make no sense (because they make no sense). It's a mixture of drawings and scribbled notes and there's a comic in the middle. Part of the 'content' of this zine is the fact that I didn't think too much about what the photocopier was up to so the pages aren't in any particular order, some are upside down, every copy comes out different which I think is pretty cool.

  Untitled

I'm on a (seemingly) never ending hunt for some printer paper that isn't awful for show through so I can print my zines at home because it'd be cheaper, especially if I want to do colour, but I do love photocopiers, they have a quality that's just different and lovely so this was a real joy to put together. I was at the photocopier for so long that I ended up having to help a few people figure it out too which was kinda nice.

  Untitled

If you'd like to buy a copy here it is on etsy and here on folksy. Or if you make zines (or something else) maybe we could do a swap?

Also, as a side note, that blankety background is also listed in my folksy. I'm having a sort out and have made last chance sections in both my etsy and folksy shops so the things listed in there either won't be re-newed at all when the listing expires or just won't be re-made. Either way when they don't show up on the shop anymore they're gone for good so if there's something you've seen before you should get it now or help me clear out some studio space and grab something!

A few grubby sketchbook pages. This sketchbook is almost full and although I actually already started a new one I'm itching for this one to be finished.

Clutter City Autumn 2015

Untitled

Excuse the rubbish photo, I only took a few quick blurry ones. Yesterday was the autumn Clutter City, my first one alone and although I felt pretty anxious and although my wheeley bag fell over on the bus and although I got rained on, it ended up good. It felt a little slower than others I've been to but I think we can blame the rain for that and even so it did get pretty busy at times and I ended up doing really well so thank you to anyone who bought something or even just said something nice. Also thank you to anyone that looks at my table and just laughs or says aw, I take it as a compliment. What other reactions would I want?

I got myself home and died a little bit. Will had also been super busy with doing a miniature painting workshop with a dollhouse and miniatures group he's worked with the past few years (when he arrived they had set up a little display of the paintings they'd done before and got him a little artist bear and it's just the sweetest) so Will went and bought some ready meals (which is so so rare for us, special treat) and we watched Aristocats and had a big sleep. Today I'm going to just pootle about tidying up and getting organised again before marching onward with everything else on my list. I hope you're having a good weekend too ^_^

247 - 253 // 365 2015

247/365 // 2015

Day 247 - I love watercolour.

  248/365 // 2015

Day 248 - A whole year since his first tattoo, it's gone so fast but also seems like something he's always done. (He hasn't really technically done a whole year of tattoos, there was a no tattoo gap in the middle while they moved studios but a year since his first is still worthy of shiny stars)

249/365 // 2015

Day 249 - About to do inking with a tiny tiny brush. Apparently my super power is however small the brush I can do chunky lines. The good thing about brush inking is that it looks lovely anyway plus, no one knows what I was aiming for they just see the result. One day I'll master the brush.

250/365 // 2015

Day 250 - Making, making, making for Clutter City.

251/365 // 2015

Day 251 - A brand new zine that will be coming along to the market. I'll get it listed online too.

252/365 // 2015

Day 252 - More market prep. I really need some sort of paper trimmer. Ruler and knife is slooooow.

253/365 // 2015

Day 253 - More market prep. One last new thing I sorted last night and today I need to tag and pack and all that jazz and then tomorrow hopefully all this prep will turn into something awesome.

Bernard Bunny

Because there can't be enough Bernard gifs in the world and I'm in the midst of a million half finished projects trying to be ready for markets and general re-stocking and new things and custom orders and then that thing what happens towards the end of the year. Much busy basically. I'm feeling all productive and stuff which is quite nice. I hope you enjoy manic gif version Bernard. It's actually calmer than watching real life Bernard.

By the way, that is a free local magazine thing that came through the door, not some sort of football thing I'd got for myself. Just thought I'd clear that up. Football, ugh.
