Zine ~ The Chapess

The Chapess The Chapess The Chapess The Chapess

A few months ago I was asked if I wanted to contribute an illustration to the next issue of The Chapess and I obviously said yes. The theme was inspirational women and it's turned out great. I got my copy last week and it's so good, such a great mix of contributors and subjects. It's available in Zara Gardners Etsy here, I recommend it.

Comic ~ Clever Crow

Untitled

A little comic inspired by facts seen on Life of Birds.

Crows are so clever.

Illustration ~ Blue Budgie

Untitled

A while ago I was asked to make a couple of shrink plastic pendants and the line drawing I did for the budgie has been sat on my desk for ages and I finally added a bit of colour to it. Although, the scanner hasn't been very kind to it. An ongoing battle.

Sketchbook ~ Will, Hot Chocolate and Walrus

Untitled Untitled Untitled

Will doesn't forgive people for starring in romantic comedies with bad animal comedy.
We got to go out for free drinks at Cafe Nero (yay Priority Moments). There's just something about drawing in coffee places.
I saw the very end of a walrus programme on bbc 2 (I think) the other day and fell in love. I need to find it on the iplayer.

I entered the Ohh Deer pillow fight competition and so did Will (here and here).

Ohh Deer Pillow Fight Competition

I've entered Ohh Deer's latest competition which means there are 3 cushions available in their shop right now that have my illustrations on them.

I can't imagine I have much chance of winning the competition but I'd love it if I actually sold a cushion or two. It's a great chance to have a product available that I wouldn't be able to do myself and the thought of someone having one of these on their sofa is really cool.

Fingers crossed  *^_^*

(Clicking the images should take you to their pages on Ohh Deer but just in case axolotl, cactus, panda)

Week 40

274.365

Day 274 (01.10.13) - I had an urge to get my peg loom out last week but now it's just sitting on the dining table unfinished while I do other things. Oops.

275.365

Day 275 (02.10.13)

276.365

Day 276 (03.10.13)

277.365

Day 277 (04.10.13) - There are a lot of reasons why I think this photo is rubbish but I actually like it.

278.365

Day 278 (05.10.13) - I tried to do a drawing every hour as well as the work I had to do but then Will took me to see Elysium instead. Not complaining.

279.365

Day 279 (06.10.13) - Chocolate bread! This didn't rise at all, I think I killed my yeast with hot water so it was the heaviest bread I've ever known but it was still tasty. The recipe is here. I'm not sure how she can use boiling water and make it work because I'm pretty sure that's what went wrong with mine. I think next time I'm going to melt the chocolate separately and then use regular lukewarm water instead. I also feel like I have to point out that I have tried a lot of her recipes and this is the only problem I've ever had and they're all delicious (and cheap!)

280.365

Day 280 (07.10.13) - Wrapping up orders for the post.

Things this week:
I've mostly been working on stock this week. Still lots to replace and new things to make but I'm getting there ^_^
I very much want this zine.
We visited Will's sister and had a woodland adventure.
As mentioned earlier, Will took me to see Elysium which was really good and this evening we're off to see Blue Jasmine which I'm really looking forward to. We always go ages without going to the cinema at all, miss loads we wanted to see and then go a few times one after the other to try and not miss anything because we're foolish. It's the only explanation for not going to see films for free.

Week 39

267.365

Day 267 (24.09.13) - Trying out a new idea for an amigurumi.

268.365

Day 268 (25.09.13) - For some reason that board feels really good, it's even better to stand on. Especially after cutting and folding a load of new cards.

269.365

Day 269 (26.09.13) - This guy needs a name.

270.365

Day 270 (27.09.13) - Will's prints getting ready for the market.

271.365

Day 271 (28.09.13) - These buttons have been in a half sorted state for far too long.

272.365

Day 272 (29.09.13) - Urgh flash.

273.365

Day 273 (30.09.13) - Will made himself some bunting.

Things this week:
Finding two loaves of Kingsmill bread for 9p each when you and your boyfriend have a £10 food budget that week is a pretty amazing feeling.
Had a good time at Clutter City, sold lots and met some lovely ladies from a new shop to sell at too.
The weather has been just the right amount of warm.

Stripes

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

The making of our market sign. There's something quite nice about watching someone paint straight lines. Note that there is no masking tape, he just used his straight line painting skill.
You can see the sign in action here.
