Illustration ~ The Pug That Ate The Whole World

The Pug That Ate The Whole World

I had a text conversation with Will that was something about a pug that was so greedy he ate the whole world and then the people that were left had to just float around in his orbit and every now and then he'd snaffle one up because although he knew it was bad he just couldn't stop himself.

I entertained the thought of cutting out the pug and tiny people and sticking it to the space painting for about half a minute before I came to the conclusion that it would make infinitely more sense to just embrace photoshop.
Seriously, imagine cutting out those tiny people one at a time and sticking them on. There would have definitely been casualties. And I would have gone insane.

This also fits in with this weeks Illustration Friday topic 'space' which I'm pretty pleased with. I'd been planning to do this illustration for a while and the week before I'd thought about doing Illustration Friday each week but it was Friday again before I'd got around to it and then this topic came up and it all came together quite nicely.

The Meadow ~ Winter/Spring

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

I thought the meadow was looking quite bare and colourless when I went over there yesterday, a few snowdrops poking out but nothing more (still a lovely place to wander, just in it's winter coat) but when I looked at my photos I realised that I'd actually found quite a few pops of colour. The blue sky definitely helped.

I love nature, always something interesting to see. Although that's just true of outside in general really.

Sketchbook ~ Ladies and Monsters

Untitled

I was having one of those days so I turned it into something productive. My rather snazzy outfit is a combination of what I wore that day then throwing on pyjama bottoms in the evening because I was cold.

Untitled

This lady came out of my head (yay) and then I smudged her top (boo). In the scan I feel like she's looking at that hair that got trapped and is judging me. I'm judging myself for still not realising that my hand is about to go in wet paint pretty much every time I paint anything.

Untitled Untitled Untitled

And the first few pages from the little book I keep in my bag so I always have something to draw on even if I haven't planned to (or can't be bothered to carry my heavy heavy A4 beast). This is actually a bunch of little notebooks I made and never sold that I've bound together to make one chunky book. I'm wondering how long it'll be before it needs another attack of tape but it's holding together pretty well so far.

Hope you're having a good weekend, I'ma go make some sort of aubergine and chickpeas and leftover sausage curry to great Will when he gets in. He's a lucky man to come home to my kitchen experiments...

Free Castle Visit Number Two (Part Two)

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

This is one of my favourite displays in the castle museum. I can't get enough of neatly organised collections.
It's a piece by Julian Walker that the castle commissioned. "Underneath each object is the hand written name of a person who was imprisoned in Norwich Castle during it's long history as a prison.
The work makes a link between the objects held in the museum and the individuals imprisoned in Norwich Castle.
Each object has been carefully selected to reflect the diversity of the collections at Norwich Castle: archaeology, natural history, fine and decorative art are all represented.
Yet each of the objects is flawed in some way and would struggle to find a place in the museum's collection. Walker has created a cabinet of comprised curiosities."

Comprised curiosities. I like them.

Free Castle Visit Number Two (Part One)

Untitled

While Will sat infront of the corvids drawing magpies for a tattoo design he's been asked to do I had a wander round the castle on my own for a bit. I can't not take photos of the birds, they have such good faces.

Untitled Untitled

I read through the guestbook for Frances Kearney's photography exhibition which does unfortunately have a fair few pages by clearly bored school children but these two were my favourites because of the use of double language comments and the fact that Courtney clearly had some second thoughts about being included as part of Jake's comment.

Untitled

I'm fairly certain I've taken this exact photo before but I love them.

Untitled Untitled

Look at it's little baby! This is a jug apparently. It's pretty amazing.

Untitled

Then Will came and found me and we had a quick peek out at the city from the keep before heading home for tea and doughnuts.

Sunny Sunday Stroll

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

On Sunday I had to pop to the supermarket for kidney beans and seeing as the sun had made an appearance I thought it would be a more exciting outing if I took my camera.
I wasn't wrong. Purposefully taking a slightly awkward lump of camera out with me makes me look more at things which in turn makes me see things that make me smile, or at least think, which is always better than walking around in a boredom induced stupor.

Cass Art had a little Valentines competition yesterday to draw them a love doodle. I had finished a commission (with a slightly finger killingly short deadline) that afternoon so I crashed on the sofa for a bit watching the Olympics and then spent part of my evening with this fella.
Fingers crossed he wins (although I think it's a random pick), the idea of having £100 worth of stuff from Cass is pretty exciting. But if not then at least I have this guy now, he's pretty handsome.

Disposable ~ Bonfire Night

Disposable Camera Disposable Camera Disposable Camera Disposable Camera Disposable Camera

Bonfire night. Photos could never explain how huge and how hot that fire was. It was awesome.
I was pretty impressed by my disposable camera firework photo taking ability.
Who doesn't want to be pushed around in a rusty wheelbarrow.
The chicken sheds the next day. (This isn't where the fire was, obviously)

The last party at the farm. I think it had a pretty good send off. After all the fire and fireworks there was sausages and mulled cider and pumpkin pie and apple crumble. What more could you want.

Quick Shop Update ~ Cards

Untitled Untitled

The brilliant business minded person that I am I just realised I have some cards in my box of stuff that needs listing that are pretty good for Valentines Day.
So I pretty sharpish got them listed on Folksy and Etsy.
They're not just good for Valentines either so you should probably get a couple for your lovely friends.

Disposable ~ Moving Out and Planting Seeds

Will with Chicken Walker (or so he tells me).
Tyrannosaurus Res. Not my spelling, it's what he has printed on his underside.
The lovely Cherokee.
Planting poppy seeds in shoes.

Will hasn't lived at the farm for years but did until uni so he had lots of stuff to sort out before they moved and while we were there we took some poppy seeds from the garden to plant in ours.

Disposable ~ Norwich

Disposable Camera Disposable Camera Disposable Camera Disposable Camera

The cathedral.
I cannot for the life of me remember or figure out what this is a photo of. It's bugging me.
On St. Benedicts Street.
The market.

I can't remember when these were taken but judging by the order of the photos it must be during the first week and a half of August 2013. I so much want to know what that second photo is of!! It looks kinda like graffiti but somewhere that has a light set up? I tried fiddling with it on photoshop to figure it out but it didn't work. Argh!
