Lunch

The weather has been so lovely the past week (I know we need rain but blue skies are just so pretty).
I think I'm going to finish off the package I'm putting together for my grandparents and then go for a walk.
I'm also considering bulk buying some stamps before the prices go up...

Sketchbook

A sneak peek into my sketchbook over the past couple of months. Nothing amazing but there's been a lack of drawing here recently so I thought I'd share a few bits.
There's a couple more on my flickr.  (or have a look in the sketchbook 2012 set)

Hand Me Downs

78.366 77.366

A very very very small amount of the sewing things I was incredibly lucky to be given recently. It's all so awesome and I can't wait to try making something, especially with the as yet unphotographed 1960's Singer that still has it's instructions!
I'm excited.

Working Outside

81.366

I met up with William out and about the other day, the weather was lovely and working outside seemed like the best idea. So obviously I wandered about taking photos before actually sitting down to any work.

Recently I...

made Guinness chocolate cakes from the recipe in Oh Comely (although in that recipe it doesn't tell you what to do with the sugar or the cocoa powder, my guess was just chuck it in with everything else and guess what, it worked)

made some new notebooks, these ones have knitted covers. The first lot are available in The Craft Room and now I'm working on some for my Etsy too.

went outside without a jacket or scarf. The sun has indeed got it's hat on. Hip hip hip hooray. Although when the sun goes down in the evening you suddenly wish you had that jacket and scarf, it is only March after all.

had a lame attempt at the March dilo.

went to the cinema to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

acquired a load of awesome sewing bits and bobs including an adjustable dressmakers mannequin, the most buttons ever and a 1960's Singer sewing machine still with the instruction booklets!

and got a new cd (that I should have owned long before now) (The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - The Royal Society) and am listening to it non stop. Surely they're too awesome to not exist anymore???

Wrapping Things

I was quite proud of the wrapping I did for the post I sent to my mum for Mothers Day. Also I enjoyed doing it which is always a bonus. That envelope with the doily is hand made. Aren't I amazing?
If you don't think so, I'll send Piranha Pete after you.

Young Neil

Spring is peeking it's way into our back garden.
While I was out in the garden I got scared by Young Neil our hedgehog. He was snuffling about under the compost heap where he lives (hedgehogs make such a racket!) and I was worried it might actually be a rat because I couldn't see him.

Pretty sure it was Young Neil though.

I'm fiddling around with bits here and there on the blog at the moment so if anything is wrong or weird can you a) not hate me while it's being stupid and b) let me know what looks weird/is wrong. Thank you :)

Week 10

10.52
Week 10.
This week I found a new addiction. Crochet bowls. I love it.
I've mostly been working on some new shop products to end up in The Craft Room and on Etsy. This means lots of list making and getting excited about an idea that is the best idea ever and then 10mins later not really liking it anymore. It's coming together now though, I think I have a list of items I want to make, that are a good idea and that I actually will make.
We'll see.

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored.

The other day after I'd printed some more of my lino postcards I decided I wasn't quite ready to wash away the ink yet so I did a quick bit of monoprinting instead.
I love printing, the lack of control/randomness of it always makes things turn out more interesting. Kind of like film rather than digital photography.

Digital hugs for anyone who got the Wayne's World reference :)

Raindrops

We've had some much needed rain over the past few days.

On Tuesday while at The Craft Room someone bought something that I'd made for the first time while I was the one serving on the till.
It was quite strange.
And quite awesome.

Crochet Bowl

I've been playing around with using 2 bits of yarn together recently but not actually making anything with it and I've been wondering what I could make that isn't just for keeping you warm.
I found this tutorial on Bunny Mummy that seemed like a good way of dealing with both :)
I tried it first when I was half asleep and confused but once I'd looked at it again in the morning I understood what was going on and (changing the beginning a bit, probably not for the better but I'm like that) headed off to make bowls of all sizes and heights out of anything I can crochet.

They're so cute. And the tutorial is so easy to follow.
I say you should give it a try.
