Illustration ~ Mother's Day

Mother's Day

A painting for my mum on this day of mums. She got sent the original and I kept a scan and cleaned it up a little on the ol' computermabob and at first this happened...

Mother's Day

...and I was like 'ahh!! why is the background black??' Then I realised it actually looked pretty good so now I have both versions saved.

You probably can't tell on screen but this was pretty small. The original painting crossed that line of 'this is quite small, it probably won't take too long/this is so small it'll take forever'. Lots of very very small flowers to paint.

She's worth it though.

Love you mummy xxx

Films I Watched ~ February

Films I Watched February 2014

I've been meaning to do this for a while and here it is.
Ink and brush practise galore going on here. I really like inking with a brush but I've not mastered it yet.
I enjoyed all of these. Her was fantastic, The Lego Movie had me in a good mood for about a week afterwards and how on earth did they make Batman look so old and fat in American Hustle?!
Christian Bale really is a chameleon.

What My Phone Saw ~ A Day In The Life Of March 2014

I always look forward to the idea of the DILO group on flickr and then often forget to take any photos or am doing something that doesn't lend itself to photos. The group on flickr is a bit neglected these days but I like the idea of it and was determined to do it this time. I didn't want to carry my camera around with me because I had a lot of other bits to carry so I just stuck with my mobile.

A Day In The Life Of March 2014

My walk to the shop, not too shabby for a spring equinox.

Stopping for a homemade pop tart is important // Sausage finger

A Day In The Life Of March 2014

Walking home again and realising just how covered in stickers Norwich is.

Then I stopped taking photos because my phone can't handle inside evening light but my day ended with noodles and chicken a la Will, sharing the last homemade pop tart with hot chocolate and then tea and Black Books.

The recipe for the pop tarts is here. I highly recommend it.

My Face in Simply Crochet

Untitled Untitled

I realised I hadn't shared this yet. The current issue (16) of Simply Crochet magazine has my face in it! It's so weird and cool at the same time.
I'm so pleased with how my robot looks. I worked really hard on him so it's really rewarding to see him professionally photographed and in a magazine.

Anyway, just thought I'd have a quick show off.

Clutter City and a Shop Update

Clutter City

I spent yesterday behind a table with Will at Clutter City trying to pretend I didn't have a massive social anxiety market nervous excitement induced headache. Looking like your head is about to explode isn't good for business.
What this meant was I didn't look around at all but from behind our stall it all looked awesome. Plus I got to meet some lovely people from the interwebs which was really nice, if massively awkward (I'm feeling very sorry for myself and silly today). Maybe no one noticed...

Clutter City

Will made a new zine that's full of sketchbook bits. I love it. Slobber Chops might be my favourite zine name ever.

Clutter City Clutter City

Anyway, it was a good day. Lovely people and we made a profit despite it being a little slow at times so, you know, can't complain.

Hello, I'm Your Innards

I spent today listing new items in my shops and listening to very loud Guns n Roses. I'm pretty sure my neighbours must be sick of my Axl Rose impressions. At least they can't see the chair dancing...

Party Ring Brooches Doughnut Keyring Hotdog Keyring

These are my favourites but there are a few other new bits in the ol' etsy and folksy.

Hello, I'm Your Innards Zine here and here.
Party Ring Brooches here and here, here, here.

It's go go go around here at the moment with Clutter City only a week away. As much as I am excited for the market the sun is out and I'd probably rather be exploring and putting my feet in the clouds than inside working but I'm sure there'll be plenty of time for that later.

Hope you have/are having a good weekend ^_^

February

Untitled

February felt like a long hard slog but I'm not entirely sure why. That's February in the UK I guess. I don't think it was actually that bad though.

Untitled

Things that happened in February:
I can't remember where but I'm sure I read something by Sandra Juto mentioning she was wearing wrist warmers in bed when she had a lot of crochet to do the next day to keep her wrists warm and workable (she didn't say those exact words, they have the classic Becky is bad at words ring to them) and I thought I should try it. If I have to crochet all day my knuckles get swollen and sore so I tried wearing gloves to bed on nights that felt especially cold and I think it actually works. I could work longer before my hands started aching. I felt kinda silly sleeping in gloves but if it stops acheyness then I'm all for it.

Untitled

I got a little obsessed by the Winter Olympics. It was the moguls that did it, I had no idea it existed and it was wonderfully mental. But like every other non sport person that gets gripped by the Olympics and wonders what on earth they'll do with all that time they spent watching people do snow sports once it's finished, I'm totally over it. Feels like that happened years ago. (Looking forward to the Paralympics now though)

Untitled

The printer broke. It was sad faces all round. We had no idea where to start looking for a new one. It was a tough time. Spent the next few weeks thinking 'I'll just print that ....oh'

I saw the Lego Movie and loved it. Too much. I laughed so loud the whole time. A much needed very funny cinema experience.

Untitled

I gave my etsy and folksy much needed updates. Stuff had been sitting in my 'photograph for shops' box for far too long. But now it's all listed and I'm working on some new things. I feel all accomplished and stuff.

We got a new printer. Happy faces all round! Funny (stupid) story: We ordered the printer to go pick it up on Tuesday. We cleverly realised the printer description didn't say it came with ink so we ordered ink online and waited for it to arrive. Ink arrived on Friday, we eagerly cracked open the printer box to find all the inks already in there. We are fools. But it's all connected and working like a beautiful printy dream and now we have back up ink all ready and waiting. Prints ahoy!

Also, we got accepted for a stall at Clutter City in March!! Yay! I love me some Clutter City and I had a feeling we wouldn't get it this time (I have no idea why, I was just really worried) but we did and I'm so pleased, I can't wait ^_^

That last photo was taken in The Forum during the Dragon Festival. There was some sort of school kids art competition and I really loved this one. They were all pretty amazing though, kids art always is.
