Taxidermy at the Castle

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

Even though we have lived here for over a year now we had our first trip to the castle museum on Monday. I can't believe we've been missing out for so long. During the last hour of the day you can get in for just £1 so we did that to go check out the teapots, obviously. We then discovered the amazing natural history taxidermy section they have and ran around like kids trying to see it all before we had to get out, snapping photos as we went to draw from at home.
The displays are amazing, it's really old fashioned taxidermy, that polar bear has hold of a seal and is about to smush it! It all has so much character.
Also, isn't that backdrop in the last photo amazing? It properly looks like it stretches back really far rather than just being a painting on a wall.
We'll definitely be going back soon for a proper look.

There is more on my flickr including a rather lovely display of eggs.

Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre - Heading Home

I walked past that blue plaque so many times before stopping to read it. I love it.
In case you can't make it out, around the edge says, "This plaque is to commemorate it's illegal installation"

Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre - Art and a Ship

Art at the Lanes Fayre and a ship, although I guess the ship can be art too.
Look, grass pavement. From the minds of lightbulb vases. Genius-er and genius-er.

Flowers (and cacti) at the Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre. I love that lightbulb idea, genius.

All The Fun Of The Fair

These photos are from 8th July. I headed out for a wander round the Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre and couldn't not go see the fairground over at Chapelfield Gardens too.
As well as getting out of the house to see pretty things I was testing a camera I was gifted ages ago and hadn't got round to using yet. I made it my mission to use the whole film before I got home and I did, yay me.

A Small Bit of Craft

             Untitled Untitled Untitled

Some poor quality photos of a small portion of The Craft Room. I made a crochet garland and didn't have any pictures of it so I took a quick snap of it in the window and the cushions too, just because. The lovely things near my cushion are made by Everso Crafty. If I had the right phone it would be in that pig case.

Speaking of phones, if you know of a mobile phone that has a 3.2mp or better camera and costs around £100, connecting to wi fi would be a bonus too, I'd be grateful if you could let me know. I'm looking for a new phone for my birthday and I have no idea. It seems the only options are super duper smartphones or really basic old lady phones with huge buttons (I'm tempted but I'd like a camera). I'd like something inbetween and I don't spend enough on credit to warrant a contract so I need to find a cheap handset. Gadgets are not my thing, I know nothing about phones. I got my current phone on ebay and have had it for years and years and years and it hasn't made sound for at least 2 years because it got dropped in a pint of water. Yes, I'm that smart. Please help me.

Cushion Covers

Front Back

Finished.
The granny square one was so much quicker than the zig zaggy one. My hands feel a bit weird now after deciding to get it finished today no matter what.
They'll be on their way to some kind of place for people to buy them soon. Just not sure where yet. I'll definitely be making more, I loved using so many colours.

Commissioned Stag Key Ring

Untitled Untitled

The title says it all really. A while ago someone asked me to make them a key ring with a drawing of a stag on it and this is what I came up with.

Also featured is a part of a paint by numbers I'm working on. It's surprisingly fiddly, the front says suitable for all ages, I disagree. It's going to be awesome when it's finished and on the wall.

My Monday

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

Ready to be turned into something awesome.
Spray fixing the weird chalky ink on the rocket cards.
Being outside in Will's massive broken boots.
The healthiest, most grown up lunch ever.
Doing some crochet, my tamagotchi arrives. I name her Mochi.
Packing the cards.
Mochi grows up!
Will makes tasty dinner.
More crochet. It's working up slowly but it'll be one hell of a cushion cover.

Mobile

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

May and June
Anniversary pre gig food, Costa cake, homemade cake, take away beer, making hair clips, face mask, waiting for the bus (a la Nina Kate's bus stop wanker photos), shoes I want, reading, shoes I got, log in, feet in The Craft Room, new fairy lights.

There's just something about self portrait photos of feet, I don't know what it is but I've always loved it.

That sounded a bit fetish-ey which isn't how I meant it...
