Birthday Week Part Two. Big Cat Edition.

Whipsnade Whipsnade Whipsnade

Hungry looking cheetah and sleepy looking lions.
The cheetah were having a really good look at the zebra and deer that were in nearby fields.
I'm always surprised just how chunky and huge the lions are.

Birthday Week Part Two. Bear Edition.

Whipsnade Whipsnade Whipsnade

On Wednesday Dad took us to Whipsnade and it was brilliant.
I'd only ever seen the bears once before and Will had never seen them so when we got there and they were out eating we were amazed, spent ages watching them and took a mass amount of photos.

They're so round and furry!!!!

Birthday Week Part One

Yesterday was William's birthday and we have had a week of lovely events to celebrate and have had some actual time off. It began with this:

About a month ago I won a pair of tickets on twitter to go see the double bill with The Crow and The Lost Boys at the Prince Charles Cinema in London.
We were excited to say the least.
We headed into London for the day and went straight for Soho and Cass Art and found Gosh Comics and then spent some time in the V & A.

There are more photos on my flickr.

It was so awesome to see such loved films in the cinema and the Lost Boys copy was actual 35mm film! We were so excited, there were scratches and everything :)

It was a really good day, I've missed London a lot.

Once we were out of the cinema we headed for mum and dad's house rather than heading all the way back to Norwich and spent the night there ready for part two of birthday week.

Christmas Cards

Christmas Card Christmas Card Christmas Card

I was asked to draw some Christmas cards and this is what I came up with.
I'm getting more printed than they need so there will be some in the shop once they've arrived from the printers.

Last night I put these on my flickr and added them to groups and then put a link to them on facebook and twitter.
Last night I thought they looked a bit weird but I was on my laptop and thought it must just be the screen set up is bad. I looked at them this morning on the desktop and they still looked horrific and I suddenly realised they were in CMYK (for printing) rather then RGB (for screens).

I'm actually a little embarrassed that they were seen in that horrific state.
I was surprised how much of a difference it makes. Sneaky photoshop shows them just fine and then they get on the internet and turn ugly.

Lesson learnt, I won't be forgetting to change that setting again in the future!

Sketchbook

Sketchbook Sketchbook Sketchbook Sketchbook Sketchbook

I got a little addicted to making the fingerless mittens for the shop and didn't really do anything else while I was getting them done which meant I didn't do much drawing.
To get back in the swing of things I headed for my go to fun times drawing: animals and tank girl.
These are a few recent pages from one of my sketchbooks.
Now I'm working on some Christmas cards for mum and dad, a book competition and there's also some comic strips that I'd like to get out of my head.

Keep your hands warm...

Fingerless Mittens Fingerless Mittens

Just added 4 pairs of fingerless mittens to the shop.
I'm planning to steal back the ones I made for Will to see how big they are so I can make some man sized ones too.

Frenzy!

Library

Yesterday we got up at a reasonable hour, we worked and we went to the library. I came home with 2 comics that I thought I'd picked up quite independently of each other and when we got home I realised they were by the same person!

This morning I didn't wake up till it almost wasn't morning anymore and I'm now in a slight frenzy trying to get everything done that I wanted, which is actually slowing me down. Turns out frenzy isn't helping.

And I split my lip.

I'm off to make the rest of the day a bit more successful!

Norwich in October

The last I'll be showing from the year long film.
The wild strawberry sign is from a herb garden just outside the cathedral, it's lovely in there.
That's one of the things I really like about Norwich, there always seems to be another awesome little place to find.

I handed in a film that I thought was going to only have a few exposures on it due to my too late understanding of what I'd done wrong to the camera but it turned out to have none at all and they gave me a free film development voucher so hopefully it won't be so long till I can finish off and develop another film.
