Sketchbook Flip Through ~ Aug - Oct 2016

A flip through of my recently filled up sketchbook. It was another £2 square baby from Tiger. I got a little angsty for something new towards the end. That's just what I'm like with sketchbooks though, maybe I just haven't found a book I really like, maybe I just like change but I don't tend to buy the same one more than a couple of times. It's not the books fault at all. It did such a good job for £2. I actually got my next one from Tiger too and for only £1 (even though the tag said £2, win!) so we'll see how I get on with that. The 'proper' ones I have my eye on are far out of my price range at the minute so thank god for Tiger right now, also they sell really tasty snacks so win win ^_^

Hammerhead, Adventure Pals and an Axolotl

Axolotl

Before Clutter City at the start of the month I worked really hard on getting some new designs finished so I could take packs of stickers, which worked out quite nicely and what didn't sell are listed in my Etsy. Now I'm working on getting all these new drawings listed in my print to order shops.

Adventure Pals

I started getting them uploaded yesterday with these three and also went through every design I already had up on both society6 and redbubble, making sure they were all placed on the products properly (society6 has changed how you do this so I have more control on each item now) and sorting out some of the png files so the shirts work nicer (I didn't really know what I was doing with the first set but now the designs look good on the dark shirts!)

Kawaii Hammerhead

If you notice any of the products look wrong please let me know. Uploading and fiddling with the files on every item available is not really the most exciting aspect of my job and even though I try as hard as I can, I imagine the odd wonky thing will slip through that I don't notice. Either because my slow slow internet makes my attention slip or because I'm getting distracted by the new Korn album, who knows >( ̄︶ ̄)<

Also, if you buy any of my designs please share! Tag me @vongarratt #beckygarratt on twitter and instagram. I'd love to see them. I think society6 is free shipping till the 30th so now's as good a time as any ^_^

Autumn

The seasons are slowly changing round here and autumn is my favourite time of year and I really fancied just taking my camera out for a walk.

Untitled

I love just wandering and taking photos but find in the summer I'm too hot and impatient and in the winter I'm too cold to spend very long outside so Autumn is perfect.

Untitled

But then before long it started raining so I had to put my camera away and didn't take many photos.

Untitled

But later in the afternoon I went outside to empty my recycling bin and found a frog! They were so small and so well camouflaged, I'm so pleased I didn't accidentally tread on them!

Untitled

I've only seen a wild frog once before I think and it was ages ago, I actually mentioned to Will recently how I really wanted to see a frog. Frogs are so pretty, I love them.

Untitled

That day I ended up getting both my wishes, seeing a frog and taking some photos ^_^

Here's my most recent vlog if you'd like to some more frog footage, I couldn't get enough of the lil guy.

Shop Update ~ Zines, Patches, Stickers

A few new bits that I made before the market and are now in my Etsy. September is the third monthly one sheet zine I've got listed. It's a mix of sketchbook/diary/tweets that I did done dooed in September (or whatever month it says on the front). Each month the new zine is available for free if you buy something else in my Etsy and just ask for a copy ^_^

A replacement pad patch because they were sold out and a bunch of new stickers. Before the market last week I did a ton of new illustrations and just quickly packed them as random sticker packs. I wanted more drawing work on my stall and who doesn't like stickers? This is what's left at the moment. I'll be doing some 'themed' sets and more random ones if people like them like this. The illustrations will be slowly but surely added to my print to order shops too.

Anxious Days is another new zine but a bigger one, in pages and topic. My style is quite simple and I'm not all that good at expressing myself with the words so I'm (ironically? annoyingly?) anxious about the fact it doesn't 'feel how I think a zine about anxiety should feel'. I mean, come on, that's pretty dumb. Anyway, this is 20 pages of illustrated words about anxious thoughts I've had/have. I upset myself a couple of times making this, in a therapy/self care kind of way though, I felt better for it each time (seriously, you should make a zine. You don't have to even show anyone). Overall, this zine is causing me trouble now though. When I look at other people's work about anxiety I identify and I feel for them and I'm impressed by their honesty. There's something about my own version that makes me feel like it will do none of those things for other people. I'm going to tell myself that's my broken brain being mean and put the zine out in the world anyway and not just think that how I work is just rubbish. Please don't tell me I'm rubbish (*μ_μ)

Anyway....shop update ╰(▔∀▔)╯

Art Journal Flip Through September 2016

September was a busy month, there were a few times where my art journal got away from me and I was worried I'd started losing it a little. If it's so easy to just not do a couple of days, do I still like doing it? But whenever I sat down to catch up it was just as lovely as ever, I just had things to do that were more important. I spent some time today catching up on the first week of October entries. Now that things have calmed down a bit (I still have a hefty to do list but things are so manic before a market) I'll be able to get back to doing it day by day each morning which I'm really looking forward to. Anyway, here's September's flip through.

If you'd like to see the other months, they're in this tag.

I Am Enjoying InstaSnapLineStoryChat #3

After my small crisis (lol) explained in the last snapchat post I've finally come around to the fact that I enjoy various things about various photo editing type apps and am gonna just use all of 'em (duh, thanks brain). So here is a selection of bits I have done with snapchat, insta stories and line camera. Now I just have to come to terms with the fact that all the different ratios ruin my grids (︶︹︺)

September Wrap Up

September happened far too quickly! Quite happy for it to be Halloween month though ^_^
Here's my monthly video ramble about some things that happened. This one is especially ramble because I'm out of it after getting a new tattoo the afternoon before. I'm pretty sure there are multiple times I don't finish explaining myself in this video, getting tattooed seriously takes it out of me for a couple of days, but you can always just ask me if there's something particular I never got around to saying (o-_-o)

September Wrap Up

These Gemma Flack zines turned up while I was filming. I love her so so much // An accurate self portrait

September Wrap Up

This nail varnish is cheap and pretty, all I need in the world // Kawaii!

September Wrap Up

This Bunny Bissoux purikura zine is just amazing. Looking at her work really inspires me to work harder, I love her too // New pens = happy Becky

I hope September was kind to you and hopefully October will be even kinder. I'm hoping it will bring more art by awesome folks, lots of spoopy fun and many a root veg based soup.

I've got to go get ready for the stall I've got at Clutter City this weekend *nervous*!! See you later ヾ(^ω^*)
