I Made A Lot Of Badges

Untitled

The tiny stickers I ordered arrived so I got to make some collage badges I've been thinking about doing for a while and I also drew up some new designs.

I love making badges so much, whether it's printed designs or putting together little collage pieces, and using the badge machine is so satisfying.

I love sticking gems on top of the badges, it's super fiddly but worth it. I have a badge I made for myself that has googly eyes that's a good time.
And now for the finished designs.

90-109 ~ 365 2018

I've got to the stage of a 365 project where it isn't at the front of my mind anymore so there are days I'm forgetting to do it BUT I am going to keep going anyway because doing your best at a thing is better than not doing a thing and that's a good thing to be reminding my brain ^_^

Little Bits ~ Issue 1

Little Bits Issue 1

Winter has been long and difficult for me. My brain has just been like, "nope, not doing it" and I haven't been feeling very creative but I do always take photos and keep a diary so I thought now that my brain is waking back up with spring I'd use what I have managed to do to get going again. So here's a new zine made up of photos I've taken and bits out of my diary from between January and March 2018. It's kind of a follow on from the little monthly zines I was doing last year but more.

Little Bits Issue 1

I've had a life long struggle with double sided printing, trying various papers that claim to be for double sided printing to just using whatever cheap paper we have laying around and always having show through and trying to not be bothered by it, it is what it is (and failing, it's so annoying! Don't say it's for double sided!!!!!) Anyway, I tried a new paper again and I think I've finally found one that works for me! It's HP laser paper that's 120gsm and it does have some show through at first but when the other side gets printed you can't see the show through plus it feels really nice and I'm so happy

I'm using some coloured paper from poundland for the covers and then adding stickers because everything is better with stickers.

I'm really pleased with them and it has got me feeling like I'm capable of doing things again, here's the listing in my etsy shop.

And here's the colour version in gif form. It's already expensive for me to print things (I need to invest in a crummy-er printer for cheaper ink) so colour for this is a no go but I love colour so have to share this version of the zine too ^_^

If you're here from the zine to see the gif, thank you so much \(@^0^@)/

Twice What Is Love? ~ My First Kpop Album ^_^

Twice What Is Love mini album

Twice What Is Love mini album

The music video for What Is Love? came out and I got very excited and finally treated myself to a kpop album. I've always stopped myself before because of a mixture of not having money and not realising how good they are. This time I had the money and I read the listing properly and saw how many bits you get with it (especially as it was the last day of pre-orders which got me an extra gift) and couldn't stop myself, it was time. What I wasn't prepared for though was how amazing the quality is on everything. It's so good. I feel like if you want things printed this nice here you need to be buying graphic design catalogues or something and even then it won't be as nice. Amazing printed products and cute girls. Combined. A dream!

As though a 100 page photo book with the cd wouldn't be enough.
All these photo cards are trading card size and I look forward to thumbing through them over and over. I can't decide whether to scratch off the scratch card, it's really nice kept like that but the scratching off would be a fun time too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This clear postcard is amazing. You get a random one and as far as I can tell if you get all nine and pile them up it'll make one of the promotional photos! It's so cool!

The fact that those question marks on the back are spot varnished only so depending on the angle you can't even see them pleases me greatly. The cd image was another random selection, hi Nayeon.

Another nice touch (it is all nothing but nice touches) is how the foiling on the logo isn't just shiny, it's that good holographic rainbow shit.
I'm seriously so impressed with the quality of everything and I'm so so happy to finally have some Twice merch to hold in my hands. I want to be surrounded by nothing but this stuff, I would own photo cards of idols I didn't even know I love this ephemeral type stuff so much. I'd basically like to live in this shop please.
I show it all off more in this vlog including the poster and a peek in the photo book that I forgot to take pictures of for here.

Not sure different how yet but this has run it's course. These go up to the end of March which seems like forever ago and also yesterday wait isn't it still February (´◑ω◐`)

Tattoo Healing

Whenever I get a new tattoo I'm always fascinated with the healing process, bodies are pretty magic and so are tattoos so I thought I'd do some sort of healing diary on here.
I just want to start with pointing out that every tattoo based situation is different, even every tattoo on one person will be different, and I'm not saying this is what anyone else should do. There are so many variables (black, colour, body part, artist, how your body reacts, lifestyle while healing, etc.) and there is no one way to heal a tattoo. A good tattoo artist will be as interested in the healing process as everything else and will know what to suggest when it comes to work they have done so it's best to listen to them even if you've had different advice from other people before (and if they don't seem bothered about the healing process maybe don't work with them again...).
And remember that even though tattoos are magic and awesome they also aren't, it's basically just a wound. Keep it clean, don't pick it, don't cover it with crap your body will just try to weep back out again anyway, use your common sense :)

Day 0, tattooing day: My artist (thanks Will ^_^ ) wrapped up my arm and when I got home I took some ibuprofen to calm down the swelling. Before bed I washed my hands, took off the cling film and using the shower head, warm not hot, rinsed most of the gunk off my arm. Using anti-bacterial liquid hand soap I foam up my hands and rub all over the tattoo with the flat of my hand then go back over with the pads of my fingers in little circle movements to make sure it's properly clean. Rinse really well, any soap left will irritate it, pat dry and wrap in clean cling film.

Day 1: In the morning I washed it same as last night while I was in the shower then wrapped it up for the day. I washed and wrapped it again before bed.

Day 2: Same as yesterday but before putting the new cling film on I put a small amount of acriflex on the tattoo. I wait for the tattoo to stop weeping before I put anything on it and tbh I don't feel like it needs anything yet but acriflex is anti-septic so it's an added precaution if any germs have got in there.

Will likes acriflex because it's antiseptic and will also help when the tattoo gets really dry but it isn't a moisturiser so it's not going to get it all claggy and gross. I think bepanthen is a pretty classic suggestion because it can help as a barrier against rubbing clothes but people often use too much of it and it just makes your immune system angry which equals more weeping. I've found the best thing is to just let the tattoo dry out, not so much that it cracks but enough that it gets on with healing without just constantly making new scab. For my tattoo the cling film protects from any rubbing anyway, I also work from home so even if the cling film wasn't there it's easy for me to keep clothes away from it. People also seem pretty keen on moisturising fresh tattoos but the idea of putting moisturiser on open skin makes me cringe. Each to their own.

Day 3: No cling film today but I still washed and put on acriflex in the morning and before bed.

Day 4: The peeling has begun!! I normally heal anything really slowly so wasn't expecting it to start peeling yet. I love seeing the little bits of new skin now with added tattoo peeking through ^_^
I only washed it in the morning today.

Day 5: For the next 2 days I kept washing it each day in the shower and put a little acriflex on each time and it just all peeled super fast.

Here it is all peeled, it's obviously still new skin and needs to settle in a lot but its done healing in terms of actual wound, now it's just shiny new skin. Now that all the peeling is done I moisturise it with a colour and fragrance free moisturiser when I moisturise the rest of me in the morning and during the day if it feels a bit dry.

When I started this post I thought I'd get a lot of gross peely pictures but it heeled so much faster than I was expecting and didn't even have an awful itchy phase. Good job arm. Maybe I'll get some good photos next time (=⌒▽⌒=)

Sanrio Boys💖

Last night we finished watching Sanrio Boys. Oh my gosh do I love those boys.

When I first heard about this anime I thought it was going to just basically be an advert for Sanrio stuff plus now these cute boys who would surely have merch too (I didn't know then that the characters already existed but I since found out and I want these blind box cup balancey things (puttito?) so much) and I was fine with that tbh, but it wasn't that. It's. So. Good. It covers friendship, gender stereotypes and having the confidence to like whatever you want, family, grief, guilt, wanting to sparkle and not fully knowing what you even mean!!!!!
One of the main and more obvious points is about how boys can like cute stuff too which is an important message because let's face it if boys were allowed to just like whatever they wanted they maybe wouldn't grow up to be angry jerks and I love how reassuringly it's dealt with. If you're worried about admitting something about yourself it's easy to play out all these crazy ways people are going to react that keep you hiding the thing but I felt Sanrio Boys handled this in a really reassuring way, nothing really bad happened when Kouta started admitting he loves Pompompurin. Some people are like "oh, that's weird for a boy" but it doesn't get dwelled on, no one is really awful to him about it, it's like a gentle nudge of "go ahead, be yourself, it'll be fine."

I really enjoyed it, it was funny and cute and had some really horrible moments and made me cry and was overall a real good time. I definitely recommend watching it, especially if you thought about it but then didn't because it might have been a nothing-y advert. It's so much better than that.

Also, they better be working on a series 2 with Badtz Maru dude being in it because I very much want to watch that (=⌒▽⌒=)

Here it is on crunchyroll for free and here is the official Sanrio Boys website ^_^
