The Anti-Social Club ~ Friday 13th
This weeks Anti Social Club theme was Friday 13th. I was thinking about how even though Friday 13th is traditionally a day of bad luck some people embrace it as a lucky day for themselves. I know that black cats are associated with both good luck and bad luck so I thought a cat would suit the theme quite well.
Some black cat 'facts' from wikipedia that I liked:
The character Behemoth in "The Master and Margarita", an enormous black cat, capable of standing on two legs and talking, has a penchant for chess, vodka and pistols.
A cat having black fur with white roots is known as a "black smoke."
The Scottish believe that a strange black cat's arrival to the home signifies prosperity.
In Germany, some believe that black cats crossing a person's path from right to left, is a bad omen. But from left to right, the cat is granting favorable times.
Most of Europe considers the black cat a symbol of bad luck, especially if one crosses paths with a person, which is believed to be an omen of misfortune and death.
I fancied making an amigurumi cat and I left most of her face bare so you can decide for yourself whether her intense gaze is bringing you good or bad things. Hopefully good though.
