Apple Tree

Is it just me or is it weird that this tree still has apples on it?
Surely they should have all fallen ages ago.

D.I.Y Photo Album

I had quite a few photos from various printings and films and had an A4 diary from last year that I didn't really want to just throw away as it seemed wasteful. I couldn't decide what to do with it and then Will said I should use it to stick things in and I realised I had run out of photo albums.

I just laid out the photos on the page and then marked 2 little dots on each side of each corner, took the photos away then used a blade to cut between each of the corner marks and slotted in the photos.
Voila! Free photo album.
I haven't put photos on both sides of the page all the way through because I reckon it'll start getting too thick for the binding to handle, although I am tempted to over fill it so I can have a play with making the binding/spine stronger...

Rain

24.366

The other day we went for a walk in the rain.
We also ordered over 500 prints from our digital photos which has just arrived in the fattest package. I'm really excited to open it and see them all in real life and add them to our books/albums.

I really love these trees.

Self Portarit of Woe

12th jan

A little doodle of myself the other day in my massive cosy dressing gown feeling sorry for myself because I had a sore throat due to a sore ear.

Poor me.

Fact: I lean my chin on my hand like that so much that I actually have a mark on the skin under my chin. I'm so feeble.

Box and Fence

11.366 14.366

A box of little things I might want to stick in my sketchbook with drawings and stuff and a collection of dead leaves in a fence.
Photos 11 and 14 of my 366 project.

For some reason the Sri Lankan dude on that stamp really reminds me of a Daniel Clowes drawing...

P.S. If that 'Sri Lankan dude' is anyone important, I apologise.
For calling him a 'Sri Lankan dude' not for comparing the picture to Daniel Clowes. I like Daniel Clowes.

Fringe

11th jan

Last night I did that thing where I was cutting my fringe and it wasn't quite right so I kept trimming it and then all of a sudden it was shorter than the short I wanted it and I'm now undecided as to whether I like it or not but I'm also not really bothered because it will grow back.
Hence the expression on 'my' face here.

Today I...

...went for a wander in the city after getting the boring things done off of my to do list.
I like how the urban/modern-ness of the graffiti contrasts with the old-ness of the buildings in Norwich while at the same time feeling sad that people do so much ugly graffiti. But also well done to whoever put that green on that pink, I love it.

Also, if you are curious, I have created my 366 set on Flickr. Like I said before not all the photos are getting uploaded but there will be some on Flickr that I don't blog.

Sketchbook

3rd & 4th jan 5th jan 6th & 7th jan

Drawings from Transmetropolitan, Love and Rockets, a fallen leaf from our poinsettia (called Sanchez), The Art of Pixar Short Films and The Art of Up.

So far I'm doing quite well with my resolutions. I have made more than I probably should have but I think it's all achievable in a year.

The main, more resolutiony ones (rather than just goals to get done this year) are to draw every day, take a photo every day and take part in the 52 weeks self portrait project and I'm managing them all so far.

I've decided that the best way to manage this for the whole year is to regularly remind myself that I don't have to prove to the internet (or anyone else) that I'm doing these things every day. Realising that I don't have to put the drawings or photos in full view of everyone takes a lot of the pressure off. Which, in turn, means I should produce better work.
So, I will probably end up with sets on flickr for these projects but that doesn't mean you get to see it all.
Sorry :)

I'll be uploading my first week of 52 weeks tomorrow. That's a project I am going to try and share all of.
Lucky you.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Mum and Dad gave us a bottle of champagne when they came down on Boxing Day and we drank it on New Year Day with our first dinner of the year.

I hope 2012 has treated you well so far and will only get better.
I'm quite excited about it myself.

Sketchbook Sketchbook Sketchbook

I've started a new sketchbook with the new year and thought I'd post a few pages from the last chunk of 2011's books.

I'm quite excited by my new sketchbook so hopefully there'll be more to see from this one.
