Foraging For Blackberries
We went foraging for blackberries. There are so many and they're so tasty (except the really really sharp ones, they're just there to make you pull faces).
I think Will is both pleased with this particular blackberry and also is being thorned to bits.
Blackberries make me think of autumn but the weather here is still currently sunny and hot. I know it's not the most popular opinion but I'm looking forward to having to wear a jumper. I enjoy the sun but I hate being hot. The blackberries are definitely a little sign that my favourite season is edging closer.

Visitors
Our friend from uni and his fiance came to visit so we showed them the fine city.
I think his favourite bit was Optimus Primate.

Week 34
Day 232 (20.08.13) - "If you do the washing up, I'll make cakes."
Day 233 (21.08.13) - Wedgehead.
Day 234 (22.08.13) - A small selection of books.
Day 235 (23.08.13)
Day 236 (24.08.13) - I know it's not a good photo but purple potato mash!!! It doesn't look like real food, it's so weird and awesome.
Day 237 (25.08.13) - We tried out some tapes Will picked up from his nan and grandad's the other week and one of them got eaten by the tape deck so he proceeded to wind it all round me then the house. It looked pretty cool, oddly.
Day 238 (26.08.13) - Bird skull (wood pigeon ?), great white shark tooth.
Things this week:
We went and picked blackberries in the meadow. There are so many of them and they're so tasty. I found a few wormy ones though so now I'm scared to eat them.
A friend and his fiance came to visit.
I still have (I may have never mentioned it here actually...) some things on ebay we don't want. At the moment it's sewing patterns and Warhammer rulebooks. I have more of both to list aswell.

Day 230 (18.08.13) - Our first homegrown strawberry.
Day 231 (19.08.13) - I don't know why but I kind of like this for its blurriness.
Things this week:
As if there weren't enough things in Japan I wanted to see already it now turns out that the house from My Neighbour Totoro actually exists.
I started reading The Nao of Brown by Glyn Dillon. I'm not very far into yet but oh my god it's beautiful.
Time is still flying by so I'm off to get some work done before it's next year already.

Sketchbook ~ Big Hips and Taro
Some doodles I did while I was thinking about what to do for my The Chapess zine submission.
The station changed the platform at the last minute. We were just looking at the map by the door that didn't have where we were going on it when the guy pictured spoke to us, then he found a train man on the platform to check and a whole train full of people had to run round to the next platform. Luckily our train was 5 mins late or we'd have all had to wait another hour.
Ah, public transport :)
I drew this while I was on the train which I'm pretty impressed with just because normally if I draw on a train all I get is wobble lines.
I've enjoyed doing journal type pages in my sketchbook recently. I often get stuck trying to think of something to draw when I want to draw just for the sake of drawing so I find just drawing what happened during the day is a good way out of that.
The iced coffee was much needed, my huge hips often lead to a case of the glums when I try and buy clothes but luckily Will knows how to sort me out.
The first time we ever tried taro flavoured anything and oh my gosh it was tasty! How I love the oriental food shops around here.

Nature At Home
One of our strawberries on Monday, starting to go red. There was much excitement.
Trying to document my pretty amazing stance for taking product photos. I basically try and not fall on things while also trying to have my feet far enough apart that they aren't in the photo but trying to get my face and therefore camera directly over the top of the thing I'm photographing. Professional. Also notice the super fancy boots, they're important for a good photo.
This dude is the fanciest grasshopper I've seen in real life. I think when I was little grasshoppers were all over green and these days all the ones in our garden are dead grass colour but this guy had a red bum and a stripey side. I liked him (or her?)
Wednesday redness. Even more excitement. There are 2 strawberries on our plant that look like we'll definitely be able to eat them at some point, the last photo is the same strawberry as the first photo. Two days more red.

Week 32
Day 218 (06.08.13) - Birthday flowers.
Day 219 (07.08.13) - Printing thank you notes for orders (and people that gave me presents)
Day 220 (08.08.13) - Packing up a zine.
Day 221 (09.08.13) - Playing around with some lovely paper that I have no idea how to use.
Day 222 (10.08.13)
Day 223 (11.08.13) - We took some poppy seed pods from Will's grandparent's garden.
Day 224 (12.08.13) - Our strawberry plant (the baby of mum and dad's strawberry plant)
Things this week:
The weeks are flying by at the moment without me even realising.
We spent a day at the farm sorting out the last of Will's things there even though he moved out over 6 years ago. Our house now has significantly more Star Wars spaceships in it (see background of poppy pods).
Amongst other things I read Relish by Lucy Knisley this week. Loved it.

Butterfly
Will found this beauty on his run the other day.
We're not quite sure how to go about keeping it but it'd be a shame not to keep at least the wings somehow.
